The Look of Love

LOVE in marriage is more than a word that is tossed around between two people or used in the writing of vows. It’s not always a feeling of butterflies and rainbows.

Lasting love is overlooking the selfish acts, believing the best, and being there for the good, bad and the ugly. We have a tendency to concentrate on how it makes us feel but …what does it look like? Burt Bacharach and Hal David wrote a song “The Look of  Love”.

If a stranger was watching you as a couple or family what would they see? Do you have the look of love? Love displays itself in many different forms but the greatest and most poignant display is through sacrifice. It’s what we GIVE UP on behalf of the other. As we walk the journey’s of life … what will those in our families believe about us? How have we shown our love for them? We may be known  for our opinions, but will we be remembered for our love?

PUT INTO PRACTICE

This week GIVE UP something on behalf of your SPOUSE or FAMILY

MAYBE …

It’s GETTING UP WITH THE KIDS so your spouse can sleep in.

MAYBE …

it’s the TV REMOTE CONTROL.

MAYBE …

It’s the FISHING TRIP.

MAYBE …

It’s the LAST CUP OF COFFEE.

MAYBE …

It’s the LAST PIECE OF PIZZA to your child.

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. -John 15:9-17
